Life has changed beyond description in just one or two generations, and your parents memories are a precious gift to give to yourself and their grandchildren. Nothing captures a character and a personality like a video interview, and doing this on film means generations of your family to come can hear the stories, and meet their ancestors. What started as a project to make my kids aware of where they came from has become a spin off of my main video production business, and something I love.
We tell the story of your family through the old photographs tucked away in a biscuit tin under the bed, we add personalities and characters to the people in those photos, and introduce future generations of your family to your parents or grandparents. We capture the stories and memories that would otherwise be lost forever, and show just how far you've come as a family.
All families have stories that no one is quite sure if they're true, slightly exagerated, or completely made up. There's nothing quite like seeing your parents telling the story first hand and reliving the moment. Whether it's how your parents met, the stories behind the wedding, or holidays with the kids in the 1960's capturing these stories, and your parents character is something to treasure.
I'm a TV producer and I've been making TV for ITV, Channel four, Channel five, MTV, The Discovery Channel and many others for over 30 years, but by far the most important video I've ever made was this video of my Mum. Originally I made this for my young daughters, way too young to be interested in Family History at the time, but I figured when they got a little older they may get the bug. So I sat Mum down with a whole load of old family photos and asked her about them. Simple. But Beautiful. I lit it and shot it like a high quality documentary and edited the pictures she was talking about with all the care and attention I'd put into a broadcast programme. The stories she told me were astonishing, and right then I knew I should be offering this to other families.
As well as a history lesson for my kids and their kids, I realised that what I had was a fantastic record of my Mum at her talkative best. At this stage she was bright as a button and great company, full of stories and humour. As time went by these qualities faded a little, but I'd captured, for all eternity, Mum at her very best. I just wish I'd done the same for Dad. Around this time a few people interested in ther own family history had seen the video and asked me to do their own versions, and I figured that this would be a valuable service to offer people, so here it is!
I strongly believe that everyone should be able to do their own version of this for your own family, regardless of budget, which is why there is a totally free downloadable work sheet on how to film these yourself, using just your smartphone. Alternatively we'd be honoured to capture and edit a Talking Family Documentary for your family history. I've kept prices as low as possible whilst maintaining high standards and am happy to offer extended payment terms, plus the ability to share costs with siblings, so if you have 2 or 3 brothers or sisters the split price will be significantly more affordable. We also offer an option where you follow our guide on how to film your folks, send us the footage, and the photos, and we'll edit it for you.

We'll film for a couple of hours and then spend a week or so editing your footage together to produce something fascinating for all your family, for years, and generations, to come.
